Learning Spanish or English - What’s not to like?

We are interested in hearing your experiences with communication barriers within the workplace. Here in Las Vegas, we have heard of some major problems that companies are experiencing from not only a language barrier, but cultural differences as well.

We have also heard some success stories from some of our accounts once these barriers are overcome. One of our clients has experienced instances where once they have taught their employees English they actually unlocked hidden potential in those employees who have worked there for years. They realized that certain employees had degrees, and had extensive knowledge about the business. This allowed them to promote within, and at the same time creating a loyal following. The training turned out to be a pretty minuscule investment when you think about it.  

It’s been a busy couple of weeks and I’ve been meeting a lot of great people in Vegas (I’ve been here over 18 years, but it’s a big town). I’m encouraged with the way people seem to react to our unique language learning approach here at CALA.

Of course everyone is well aware of the growing need for better communication between Spanish and English speakers, but maybe they’re not quite sure how to address and overcome the issues. I’ve been getting lots of “Wow, that’s a great idea”, “I haven’t heard of anyone else doing what you’re doing before”, and “Hey, my (fill in the blank) wife-friend-coworker has really been needing to learn Spanish or English - I’ll have them get in touch with you.”

We’re working hard to stay involved in the community as well, with gov’t agencies, non-profits, and anyone else who is helping to address communication and cultural gaps here in Las Vegas.
